Proposal Submissions

Overview

External investigators may submit a proposal to the DRSC Steering Committee to obtain and analyze data collected by the EII programs. The application process is outlined below. For additional inquiries, please contact eellorin@ucsd.edu

Publications using data provided through the DRSC must credit the EII investigators, the CHRP, and the DRSC.

Submission Process

To submit an application, use the Submit a Concept Proposal form at the following link. We encourage you to download the Concept Proposal template and complete the document offline. When ready, copy and paste each section into it's appropriate field and submit the application.

Review and Approval Process

Once received, applications will be distributed to the Steering Committee and a meeting date to review the proposal will be arranged within one month of the submission. All proposals will be reviewed for scientific merit, feasibility, and overlap with existing analyses within an EII project or between projects. Feedback will be provided to investigators after review and final approval must be granted by the Steering Committee prior to any data transfer.

If overlapping proposals are submitted, the Steering Committee will contact investigators and advise on either a collaborating process or how best to edit proposals into separate, non-overlapping projects.

Upon final review and if the proposal meets the Steering Committee's satisfaction, the applying investigator will be notified. The DRSC data manager will contact the investigator to coordinate data formatting, transfer, and additional logistics required for statistical analyses.

Dissemination Policy

Works of dissemination using DRSC data, including manuscripts and abstracts, must be reviewed and approved by the Steering Committee prior to submission to a formal scientific meeting, journal, or other publication. Authoring investigators will provide drafts of the dissemination work to the Committee with a concrete timeline for submission. The Steering Committee will review and provide feedback to the authoring investigator and it is the responsibility of the investigator to incorporate edits to the Committee's satisfaction before submission. The Steering Committee reserves the right to halt submissions if the investigator does not provide adequate time for review, if they disagree with the interpretations/conclusions, or otherwise find the the misleading.

All dissemination work will acknowledge use of the DRSC and must credit the CHRP and all collaborating cohorts and institutions with at least one named author from each cohort/institution. Each such author is expected to make substantive contributions in the writing/review process. Fair distribution of authorship will be monitored and promoted by the Steering Committee.
